Story:

My 8th grade child attends Basis Peoria in Arizona. The book The Hate U Give was chosen by the teacher for English class. The book being taught has both sexual content and profanity, despite the school’s written policy of no profanity. The F word is used almost 90 times throughout the story. The book also discusses the theme of racism. F the police is written in the book. My child is reading an alternate book independently and being separated from his peers during instructional time. We voice our concerns with the school and this book is still being taught.
