The Tide is Turning
The tide is turning. I can feel it. I entered this fight about a year ago. At the time, I was angry, shocked, frustrated, and sad for the state of our school system and country. Since then, I have learned more than I ever wanted to know about critical race theory, social emotional learning, intersectionality, comprehensive sex education, culturally responsive teaching, and indoctrination in general. It is all way worse than I imagined. There are dangerous things happening in classrooms across the country. There are some evil (and mentally unstable) people who are not interested in the education or well-being of our children influencing them daily. They are there for the sole purpose of indoctrinating them with an agenda bent on destroying the fabric of our country.
The tide is turning though. I can feel it. Over the past year, I have met, and worked with, some of the most amazing “everyday Americans” who have given countless hours to the battle for our children. I have witnessed mothers, fathers, grandparents, and concerned citizens take a stand at school board meetings against the indoctrination taking place. I have discovered grassroots organizations that I never knew existed who joined in the fight for our children’s future. I have had the opportunity to hear from teachers and administrators who are frustrated with what they see every day and want to help combat it. I have witnessed the faith community step up and fill the void left by the government-run schools. I have seen a demand for school choice sweep the country like never before.
The tide is turning. I can feel it. But what comes next. Many parents are homeschooling. Some are finding private schools that meet their needs. That is wonderful, except there are still tens of millions of children in the public school system in America. We must make sure they receive the education (not indoctrination) they deserve. We need to recruit quality teachers who haven’t been brainwashed by the universities and colleges. We need to develop or support curriculum that teaches the fundamentals that all students need to be successful. We need to ensure that those in charge of our school districts are not an arm of the union but a voice for the students and parents. We need to remind the schools regularly that we are the primary educators and authority figures for our children, and we welcome their partnership, but will not tolerate their usurping of their power.
The tide is turning. I can feel it, but let’s make sure we finish what we started. Let’s make sure our public school system is changed for the better forever. Let’s make sure this generation and every one after has an opportunity to receive quality #educationNOTindoctrination.

I no longer teach in the classroom with my elementary and special education degrees, but I still consider myself an educator. I have used my passion for teaching raising my four children who are now young adults, as well as with the children I have volunteered my time with. I am currently using my skills to educate parents in Kentucky about the indoctrination happening in our public schools. I am thankful to have the support of my husband/high school sweetheart on this journey.
